Over the years I have discussed my fandom of wrestling here on the channel. I grew up as a fan of the WWF, followed many of those superstars over to WCW in the mid-90s, and have continued to watch the product for the most part ever since. Things have been pretty challenging the last 12 months, and with a birthday coming up my wife decided to surprise me with a ticket to the Royal Rumble in Indianapolis. This is the first time I've actually been to a WWE show, or WWF. In fact I've only ever been to one live wrestling show from a major promotion, a Monday nitro in like 2000 in Milwaukee.

So since I'll be at the show, how about a few predictions? Let's talk not only about the Royal Rumble matches themselves but the undercard.

Two out of three falls match between DIY and motor City machine guns

Part of me doesn't think we're going to get to three falls on this, part of me thinks we're going to have a decisive winner after only two falls and I think it's going to be the motor City machine guns. There have been rumors that the spot they are in right now was supposed to be held by Ray Phoenix and Penta but with Ray's issues getting out of his AEW contract It necessitated a change of plans. The guns are a great team, and I think it's their time to shine.

Cody Rhodes versus Kevin Owens
Listen, they did not have Cody finish his story last year for him to lose the title at the last major premium live events prior to WrestleMania. This has been a captivating story, and it's been interesting to see Kevin Owens doing great work as a heel who makes a point. But there is no way, none, zero that Cody Rhodes is not going to be champion going into WrestleMania.

Women's Royal Rumble match
I think the women's rumble has gotten much better in recent years, but I don't know that I see another iron woman coming through like we've had the last 2 years. We're going to get Charlotte flair back and I don't like the fact that she's going to be put right into a championship program against Tiffany Stratton if rumors are true. I don't know that I see anyone compelling to win this match as the two major people, Stratton and Rhea Ripley are already champions. I think Charlotte flair is the safe pick to win and I think that's what's going to happen.

For surprise entrance, I hope we get Jordan Grace, she is awesome and I'm glad to see that she has come over from TNA. I don't think we'll see a Tessa Blanchard, but there is an outside shot I would say at one of the Bella twins.

Men's Royal Rumble
Unlike the women's match where I can't see anyone really winning it, I can see 2/3 of this field having a legitimate shot at winning. I want CM punk to win simply because he got shafted back in the day and should have already headlined WrestleMania. That being said I don't want to see him win the championship from Cody or Gunther. McIntyre has a strong case, Sami Zayn has a strong case, but I'd really like to see someone new step up similar to how Gunther stepped up in years past. I don't think we're going to see Brock Lesnar, but I think Bron Breaker could be the next interation of that type of character and I would love to see him clear house.
