What to do if your avocado seed produces multiple shoots

I get this question several times per week: my avocado seed sprouted multiple trees, what should I do? The answer is that those are not multiple trees, it is one tree with multiple shoots each of which is competing for nutrients and water from the others. We prune the weak ones and leave only one dominant sprout so that it will get all the nutrients and grow quickly and strong.
