#BoycottTurkey Gains Momentum as Indian Travelers and Traders Unite Against Turkey

A viral letter allegedly from Türkiye’s tourism department has ignited a massive backlash on social media, especially after reports revealed Turkish military equipment supplied to Pakistan during its clash with India. While India emerged victorious, the incident triggered a strong wave of public sentiment against Türkiye — leading to a nationwide boycott movement.
Indian travel companies have responded swiftly, suspending all travel packages to both Türkiye and Azerbaijan. In 2023 alone, over 2.87 lakh Indian tourists visited Türkiye, spending an estimated ₹3,000 crore. The figure rose sharply from 2022, showcasing India as one of Türkiye’s fastest-growing tourism markets. With tourism making up 12% of Türkiye’s GDP and 10% of its employment, this boycott could hit hard.
Adding to the tension, India’s civil aviation ministry revoked the security clearance of Turkish ground-handling firm Celebi NAS Airport Services, citing national security concerns.
Watch the full report to understand the controversy, India's reaction, and what this means for Türkiye’s tourism economy.
