The Iranian Embassy Siege is one of the most dramatic hostage crises in modern history. On April 30, 1980, six armed gunmen stormed the Iranian Embassy in South Kensington, taking 26 people hostage. The siege, which lasted six days, was carried out by members of the Democratic Revolutionary Front for the Liberation of Arabistan (DRFLA), seeking autonomy for Khuzestan Province in Iran. #operationnimrod
